HighRise Youth Theatre has been running at Spotlight since 2014 and has worked with over 120 YP since its birth.
We concentrate on the community aspect of theatre and performance, enhancing levels of inclusion, building confidence and empowering, on top of armouring young people with a tool belt stuffed with theatrical tools and devices.
This diverse youth theatre gives young people the opportunity to work with a professional theatre company and its directors, exploring issue based devising, text and creation. The sessions act as a lesson into HighRise’s unique theatrical practice, whilst complementing and enhancing participants theatrical range from other sessions both at school or extra-curricular.
Members of The HighRise Youth Theatre (and other programmes with partners Spotlight) have previously gone on to work as apprentices professionally for the company as well as given guidance in further education and job opportunities in the arts sector including guidance with (successful) auditions for drama schools.
